I have eaten hear several times, usually get the Gyro but the other day I tried the chicken Gyro which was FANTASTIC! I like that you can get rice with your gyro instead of fries (don't get me wrong, their hand cut fries are awesome) Rice with my gyro is a great combo. Had my first falafel here and I enjoyed it,usually get an order when I pick up a gyro for lunch.Customer service great, and the owner always has a friendly hello for you if hes not in the kitchen cooking his wonderful food. The kebob sandwhichs are tasty as well, the steak one I had was moist and tasty.

Good place for lunch. Gyros are good , also try the gyro fries. Those were my favorite

Really great hummus and pita. However,They barely give you any pita with the hummus and it's obviously an up-charge for extra.arge menu with a lot of variety, however I always leave here slightly disappointed. I've had their gyro salad and the dressing was extremely vinegary and way too strong. Gyro meat is usually dry and the basmati rice is bland. Falafel is also dry. My boyfriend had a gyro and fries and it was okay, but he prefers Dr. gyros I always end up spending way more money than I expect, I feel like they're charging too much for the type of restaurant they have. I probably won't be giving this place a 5th chance.

I've visited twice now and have gotten the falafel sandwich both times. I appreciate how stuffed it is, but it is quite a mess when you eat! The falafel was very dry, both times I visited. The baba ganoush and hummus are both delicious, but the pita bread was fantastic! I got hummus just so I could eat more pita on my second visit. The restaurant was empty both times I visited, but they were weekday afternoons. I'm looking forward to branching out and trying new things on my next visit!

Honestly, I don't mean to sound hurtful but don't waste your time, money or appetite here. The dish took all 3 minutes and 3 microwave beeps... I was the only person in the restaurant and the chicken was so dry, I'm sure it's been there all day or more. The rice had okay taste but quite oily. I was really disappointed. I ended up having a few bites and sips of my cherry coke and asked for a box to go bc I just didn't feel like eating there literally alone as there was no one else. I had to leave my cherry coke bc they don't have to-go cups. No there was no apology no money back nothing. So, I just left & advice you to not waste your time. They get one star bc of the portions and cleanliness of the dining room were good.

Had a Mediterranean gyro salad, generous helping and tasty. My wife had dill rice shevid baghali polo. Again a generous portion and a to go box. The food was excellent as usual and it does take some time but the staff are friendly, helpful and courteous.

We dined on a Saturday night. Good service, even with one server and five busy tables. The vegetarian plate is a must to sample Greek food: falafel, hummus (AMAZING!!!), seasoned basmati rice (brill), pitas, and something wrapped in a grape leaf (can't remember the name). My husband had the stuffed pepper -- excellent. Great consistency. My daughter had the best dish of all, and it was a complete surprise. PIZZA. Alfredo pizza. If I died this moment, my life would have been complete having sampled only one piece of that masterpiece. Three cheeses with a delicate white sauce and a rustic crust. Now, the food was far above the restaurant's interior. My four stars results from the fact that it could be so much better if not to match the chef's authentic creations but so it doesn't resemble a dive bar. Slatted booths? Really? They do offer carry out.

the falafel sandwich was a huge disappointment. i'm a big fan of oasis falafel sandwiches in iowa city and i was excited to get a taste of that again in davenport. the sandwich was more like a salad with a few falafels in it. there was way too much lettuce. that was all i remembered biting into in my first few bites of the sandwich. on top of that, the falafels itself didn't have a great taste. and weren't as fried as i'm used to. i did hear the gyro's were good, but i'll have to try that next time if i decide to go back one day. i'd have to say though, that the people who worked there were really nice to us and helped us move a few tables together so our huge group could sit together. they even went to the back to help us find more chairs.

My husband and I made our way here on one of those nights where nothing at home sounded good. Great decision on our part! My husband has been here before and raved about the hummus. Now, he is not a big hummus fan, so I had to see what the buzz was about. We had the roasted red pepper hummus and it was delicious! We both also ordered the falafels and shared some fries. The falafel was great and had good flavor. Only downfall is we ordered them with the cucumber sauce, but they showed up with hummus on them instead. Which was still tasty, just wanted the other sauce. The fries were good as well. And there were so many great looking things on the menu. Being a vegetarian and I VERY happy to see so many choices! Usually it's a veggie burger or pasta. We will be back again to try other things!

I gave 4 stars only because I had just one menu item - the gyro. This place is authentic, clean, friendly, and quick. The gyro was overflowing with meat, the tomato and onions were fresh, the pita pillowy and warm and the sauce as expected. I was impressed to see the kitchen crew hard at work making dishes from scratch on the stovetop. If you are in the mood for Mediterranean, this is a must try.

This was delicious. Everything was fresh and superbly spiced. I will definitely become a regular. I can't wait to bring my family. I had the kofta kabob with rice and the best gyro I've ever had. Highly recommend!

I called in an order and it was ready waiting for me before I arrived after a five minute drive. A little pricey at $10 for gyro, fries and pop but I'll return. Portion size was more than adequate and the gyro was delicious.

I came here for one quick night before I had to sing at my choir concert and I was so happy I came here. I had the falafel sandwich with the side of rice and not gonna lie, I was a little scared of ordering the rice. Normally, restaurants don't put a lot of thought into the rice resulting in either bland, over cooked or not cooked at all. I obviously should not have worried, from the first bite I could not stop mmm and oh, gosh! This is GREAT! sound effects. The falafel with cucumber sauce was a messy experience and I was in heaven the whole time. I stopped by for a second time bringing my grumpy boyfriend and after he ate, he wasn't so grumpy. Told ya so! We both ordered the traditional gyros with fries (since I had the rice last time) and wow, round 2 messy experience, but again I was in heaven. The fries were homemade, skin on, thinly sliced, and the amount of fries given...score! The gyro meat was delicious, cucumber sauce amazing like last time, and I ended up with a food baby for the second time. Support this business, you won't regret doing so :)

Tried out Sultan today in search of my Middle-Eastern fix. Options are very limited in the Quad Cities; I was just happy to find a place in town that serves hummus and falafel. So, I headed across the river and grabbed some basics to get an idea of how they match up to Oasis in Iowa City and other places I've had. Traditional hummus - Very creamy. Good flavor. Comes with an olive on top. Tabbouleh - Kinda oily, and the red onions overpowered. Falafel - Chewy, not crispy, which is usually a bad sign with falafel. It tasted a little like a mock chicken nugget. Not so good. Pita bread - Fluffy and delicious! Overall, I wasn't that impressed with Sultan, but it's all relative of course -- this is still probably the best Middle-Eastern option in the Quad Cities.

It's like a classy Dr. Gyros with a larger menu that is more focused on real Mediterranean food and less on a Chicago street vendor. (don't get me wrong, I love Dr. Gyros) Make sure you get the hummus! The only thing is that you have to order before you sit down.

I was excited to see some different ethnic food back home. I was highly disappointed! The falafel was clearly frozen and microwaved and looked like sliders instead of balls. The basmati rice was clearly long grain white rice colored yellow, no flavor at all. The tzatziki sauce was made with sour cream and cucumbers, no yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, or dill like its supposed to have. Th highlight was the gyro meat which was acceptable at best, clearly off a meat cone with mild seasoning but not grilled at all. I wouldn't recommend ths place unless you want to be disappointed.

It's been a while since the Quad Cities had a good Mediterranean restaurant. Thankfully, my wife and I tried Sultan this evening. We are very glad we did. The humus and baba-ganoush were very good, but order an extra pita with it. I had the chicken shish-ka-bob. The chicken was very well seasoned. The rice was surprisingly good as well. Most restaurants don't put much thought to simple rice. My wife had the chicken gyro salad. Ask for a box, it was huge. And she made sure she was going to bring it home to finish it. The restaurant is very clean as well. I hope they open one on the Iowa side of the river.

Went back to Sultan for lunch this week and am happy to update my review. One of my complaints from my last visit, lack of knowledge of counter staff and the resulting inability to answer questions about the menu, was resolved. The staff this time around was helpful and friendly, and had obviously eaten the food there, which is a plus. The place is still brand new clean, and we had very quick service. The fries are great, homemade, thin cut, skin on, and crispy. I tried the chicken kabob sandwich, added hummus (choice of garlic or red pepper). It was really nice with soft pita and tender, moist chicken. Will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items, the Persian stew and some rice dishes sound wonderful.

My wife and I went there for dinner and we both thought it was gross and super over priced. I don't recommend it.

I was soooo excited about this place but honestly...it was mediocre. The falfael was blah and I love me a good falafel. The baba ganoush was primarily a garlic heavy dip, with little eggplant flavor. The pitas seemed like something I'd buy from the grocer's. Everthing tasted fine...I was just hoping for a more authentic tasting meal...this seemed "Americanized". The stew, which we didn't have, looked really good though. We may be back to try that. Overheard another couple asking the young gal that delivered our meal what some items were and she didn't really know the answers...kinda would help, especially in the type of restaurant where not everyone is familiar with the fare offered. May have been her first night, place is really new, but still...If you are new to Mediterranean food, it's worth a shot to see if you like it but if you are already a fan...kinda a disappointment.

I ate dinner here last night. I was happy to see a mediterranean restaurant open in the Quad Cities. Overall, it was pretty good. I had the Shevid Baghali Polo (Dill Rice), an order of garlic hummus and pita bread, and baklava for dessert. The food was very flavorful, and this was probably some of the best hummus I've ever had. My only complaint was that my chicken kabob was cold when I got it. I think that I would have been able to taste the flavors more if it was warm. The lady at the front counter was very knowledgable about the menu, and the place had a great atmosphere. I think this place would be great for lunch because of their many sandwich options. I definitely plan on coming back here.
